Homeowners in PA are eligible for a property tax break, but time is ticking!

Many Pennsylvania homeowners are eligible for a tax break, but they must act fast.

The Homestead Exclusion Program allows homeowners in their primary residence to save on their property tax if they submit a form by Friday.

Bill Thomas with Reich Realty said County Board of Assessments collect the Homestead Exclusion forms.

If submitted by March 1, homeowners will receive credit on their tax bill in the coming year.

The requirements for the program aren’t much. You must be a homeowner and that residence must be your primary residence.

The tax break is higher for city homeowners compared to those who live in the suburbs or rural areas.

Thomas said city residents can save hundred on their property taxes, but not many take advantage of the program.

“It’s a half a page of paper. It takes two minutes to fill out, and it’s worth about $600,” Thomas said.

The Lebanon County Board of Assessment said there are approximately 6,200 homeowners across the county eligible for the program that haven’t applied, with thousands more across the state.

Thomas says in Lebanon City there are about 900 homeowners who have not signed up for the program.

The the deadline to submit the application for the tax rebate is Friday. You submit the forms to your County Board of Assessment.

Eligible residents should have received the form in the mail. However, if you are unsure if you received one, or misplaced it, you can print the form here. To get the rebate, you must have the form submitted by Friday.
