    Southeastern Louisiana University Description:

    Founded in 1925, Southeastern Louisiana University is a public university located on a 365-acre campus in Hammond, Louisiana. New Orleans is about an hour to the north and Baton Rouge is 45 minutes to the west. Southeastern students come from 45 states and 49 countries. The university offers roughly 75 degree programs through its five academic colleges. Academics are supported by a 24 to 1 student / faculty ratio. Lower-level classes average 30 students; at the upper level, the average class size is 18. On the student life front, Southeastern Louisiana University has an active fraternity and sorority system with 21 Greek organizations. In athletics, the Southeastern Lions compete in the NCAA Division I Southland Conference. The university fields 15 Division I intercollegiate teams.
